Amanda Enterprise Application Modules (licensed separately from servers and standard clients) allow you to schedule an intelligent backup of the selected database and email applications. Intelligent backup means that data from these applications will be captured in a consistent state while minimizing or eliminating application downtime during backup.
Amanda Enterprise performs application backup via integration with each application's native backup tools, such as Oracle's RMAN or Windows Exchange Writer. This method not only provides the best application availability during backup, it also results in a portable backup that doesn't necessarily require Amanda Enterprise for restores.
