Login to Zmanda Pro Desktop Client and click on “Create New Protected Item “and select VMware vSphere from the protected items list and then click on “Next “.
In the “Authentication” tab, fill in the required details and click on “Test Connection”. If the credentials are correct, it should display a comment saying, “Authentication validation passed” and then click on “Next”.
In the “New Protected Item” tab, click on the plus icon on the right which will prompt you to select the ESXI hosts to backup. Select the required hosts and click on “Next”.
Optionally, if you wish to add commands to run before, during or after the task, you can do so in the “Commands” tab by unchecking the “Default (no extra commands)” option and adding the commands then click on “Next”.
Under the “Schedules” tab, you can set the schedule for when the backup should run. After configuring the schedule, click on “Next”.
Under the “Retention” page, you can configure retention periods through defined policies or by configuring retention range. Click on “Next”
Enter the name of the protected item and click on “Next”.
The final page displays the configurations made so far. To run the backup immediately, check the box labeled "Run this backup now" and click "Finish." If you only want to save the configured protected item, uncheck the box and click on "Finish."
