Getting Started with Xtrabackup Workload

1. Installation

Download the backupmanager executable from [link to be filled]. The installation process is currently supported only for Linux distributions.

Backupmanager supports Xtrabackup backup and recovery for MySQL exclusively for RPM and Debian-based Linux distributions and flavors.

RHEL based Linux distributions and flavors:

yum install zmandapro-backupmanager-1.0.0-x86_64.rpm

Debian-based Linux distributions and flavors:

dpkg -i zmandapro-backupmanager-1.0.0-x86_64.deb

Once installed, begin by logging in and configuring the protected items (i.e., the MySQL databases backup and recovery). You can do this by using the configuration command which is an interactive tool that allows you to configure protected item for the required workload.

3. Initiating Backups

The backups can be initaited from the Zmanda Pro UI or you can schedule automated backups using scheduling options.

4. Monitoring

Stay updated with the real-time progress of your backups. Apart from the server job log report backupmanager's progress reporter provides detailed status updates on the client's terminal for client triggered operations, to ensure your backups are running smoothly.
