Perform Oracle Database Backups with Oracle RMAN and Zmanda Pro
Getting Started with RMAN Workload
Installation: Download the backup manager executable. The installation process is straightforward and is supported on both Linux and Windows.
For Windows:
Install the client by double-clicking on the
.exe
fileFor Linux:
Backup Manager supports Oracle RMAN backup and recovery exclusively for RPM-based Linux distributions and flavors.
yum install zmandapro-backupmanager-1.0.0-x86_64.rpm
Configuration: Once installed, begin by logging in and configuring the protected items (i.e., the Oracle databases and script based on your backup strategy you wish to back up). You can do this by using configuration command which is an interactive tool allowing you to configure protected item for the required workload.
Initiating Backups: Run your RMAN backups on demand with a single command on the client. You can also schedule automated backups using Zmanda Pro scheduling options.
Monitoring: Stay updated with the real-time progress of your backups. Apart from server job log report Backup Manager's progress reporter provides detailed status updates on the client’s terminal for client triggered operations, to ensure your backups are running smoothly.
