Step 8: Restore Data
General steps to restore data using Zmanda Pro.
Depending on the type of protected item, there are different options for restoring data. Examples include restoring individual files and folders from a disk image backup or restoring individual databases from an MS SQL backup. Specific details will be covered on each protected item's respective page.
If a protected item offers a granular restore option, only the data chunks required for the selection will be downloaded from storage. This makes restoring data extremely fast.
How to restore data
Select the device with which the restore will be performed, either from the Devices tab in the main menu, or directly from the Devices tab in the user's profile
Click Actions > Restore (see gif above)
Select the storage vault where the desired data is stored (hint: If you have more than one storage vault tied to this user, check the Schedule section of the protected item)
Select the protected item and snapshot to restore. To see a list of all snapshots and backups from devices that may have been deleted, click the Show All button. You may also search through different backup snapshots using the Search tool, or remove specific snapshots using the Actions tool.
Select the desired restore method. The methods shown below are for disk image backups
Continue through the rest of the restore process which varies depending on the protected item type.
