The Zmanda Management Console supports the addition of one or multiple Backup Servers to run your backups. The steps for adding one, or many are the same. Clustering together backup servers can improve performance by helping to manage the backup load and can help in situations where you may have multiple sites where your data is hosted.
Log into the ZMC control plane, select the Settings drop-down from the side navigation bar, and then select Clusters.
To link a backup server to this ZMC control plane, click on the ADD SERVER button on the top right corner of the screen and enter the IP address of the machine running the backup server. Please ensure that the backup server and ZMC control plane are discoverable on the same network. For the port number, it's safe to enter 8002 as the backup server always runs on the 8002 port number unless manually specified to run on a different port.
And once you click on save, the control plane runs a traceroute to the backup server. If the connection is healthy, ZMC will notify you that the backup server is now successfully linked to the ZMC control plane.
If you come across an error while trying to add a new backup server, please follow the steps below.
Click on Overview in the left navigation bar.
Scroll down to the Event Messages section, and look for a "Server health check failed..." error
Click on the error drop-down. If the last line says something along the lines of "SSLError...certificate has expired", please see this KB article to easily generate new certs.
Once you have run the script found in the KB, refresh the browser and log in again if needed. Then repeat the steps to add a server to the cluster.
