Cloud Storage

Wasabi, AWS, Google Cloud, Open Stack Swift, Azure, and others... The only kind we don't support is cumulonimbus.

In this guide, we will go over the steps to add a variety of Cloud Storage options. The first section will cover the general steps applicable to every provider, then the specific steps for each provider will follow.

General Steps

  1. Log in to Zmanda Management Console (ZMC) using your credentials.

  2. Select Storage from the left navigation bar.

  1. Click the ADD STORAGE button at the top right corner of the screen.

  2. Select Cloud Storage as the Storage Type.

Wasabi

Before you begin, please make sure you have your Wasabi account's Access Key and Secret Key.

  1. Select Wasabi Cloud from the Type dropdown.

  1. Select the backup server from the AE Server dropdown.

  2. Enter a new name for the Wasabi storage you are creating in the Name field.

  3. The Cloud URL Path should be ‘s3.wasabisys.com’ by default. If it is not, please change it to the default value.

  4. Enter the Access Key and Secret Key in the relevant fields.

  5. Configure the Advanced options as desired and click on the SAVE button once you are done.

NOTE: When using Wasabi as a storage target, Zmanda provides the option to configure immutable backups in Compliance and Governance mode. Please see the page linked in this note for more information.

AWS S3

Before you begin, please make sure you have your AWS account's Access Key and Secret Key.

  1. Select AWS S3 from the Type dropdown.

  2. Select the backup server from the AE Server dropdown.

  3. Enter a new name for the AWS S3 storage you are creating in the Name field.

  4. The Cloud URL Path should be ‘s3.amazon.com’ by default. If it is not, please change it to the default value.

  5. Enter the Access Key and Secret Key in the relevant fields.

  6. Configure the Advanced options as desired, and click on the SAVE button once you are done.

NOTE: When using AWS S3 as a storage target, Zmanda provides the option to archive your backups to AWS Glacier, as well as configure immutable backups in Compliance and Governance mode. Please see the pages linked in this note for more information.

Google Cloud Storage

Before you begin, please make sure you have your GCS account's Access Key and Secret Key.

  1. Select Google Cloud Platform from the Type dropdown.

  2. Select the backup server from the AE Server dropdown.

  3. Enter a new name for the Google Cloud Storage you are creating in the Name field.

  4. Select the storage option from the dropdown. The choices are Nearline, Standard, and Durable Reduced Availability

  5. Enter the Access Key and Secret Key in the relevant fields.

  6. Configure the Advanced options as desired and click SAVE when finished.

Azure Blob Storage

Before you begin, you will need to find your Account Name and Account Key for your Azure Cloud account.

  1. Select Azure Cloud from the Type dropdown.

  2. Select the backup server from the AE Server dropdown.

  3. Enter a new name for the Azure Blob Storage you are creating in the Name field.

  4. Enter your Account Name and Account Key in the corresponding fields

  5. Select Hot or Cool from the Storage Option dropdown

  6. Configure the Advanced options as desired and click SAVE when finished.

Open Stack Swift

Before you begin, you will need to find the following details for your Open Stack Swift account:

  • Authentication Hostname or IP Address and Port

  • Username

  • Password

  • Identity URL

  • Project ID

  • Project Name

  • User Domain

  1. Select Open Stack Swift Cloud from the Type dropdown.

  2. Select the backup server from the AE Server dropdown.

  3. Enter a new name for the Open Stack Swift Storage you are creating in the Name field.

  4. Enter the account details you found previously in their respective fields

  5. Configure the Advanced options as desired and click SAVE when finished.

S3 Compatible Cloud

Before you begin, you will need to find the Authorization Service Hostname, Access Key, and Secret Key for your S3 Compatible Cloud Storage.

  1. Select S3 Compatible Cloud from the Type dropdown.

  2. Select the backup server from the AE Server dropdown.

  3. Enter a new name for the S3 Compatible Cloud Storage you are creating in the Name field.

  4. Enter the necessary authentication details in the respective fields:

    • Authorization Service Hostname: Enter the authorization service hostname for your S3 compatible cloud storage.

    NOTE: Do not append a forward slash (/) to the end of the Auth Service Hostname, as adding one could result in configuration issues.

    • Access Key: Enter the access key associated with your cloud storage account.

    • Secret Key: Enter the secret key associated with your cloud storage account.

  5. Configure the Advanced options as desired and click SAVE when finished.
