New features and enhancements
Disaster recovery:
Zmanda 5.1 introduces Disaster Recovery (DR) capabilities, ensuring seamless continuation of backups and restores even if your primary server faces trouble.
VMware enhancements:
Zmanda 5.1 expands support to VMware version 8 and streamlines workload addition, allowing you to include VMs individually or in bulk.
Dynamic log level updates:
Adjust log verbosity levels on-the-fly without service restarts.
Product hardening:
We've prioritized security, strengthening the protection of all secrets managed by Zmanda. Your valuable data is safeguarded by enhanced security measures throughout the system.
Pricing and licensing:
Get the licensing that truly fits your needs with Zmanda One, offering transparent pricing based on your total sources and File Share requirements. Pay only for what you use, ensuring a cost-effective solution tailored to your specific backup needs.
Backup set level data deduplication (Beta):
Reduce storage requirements and network stress with backup set level data deduplication (Beta). This feature minimizes backup size across all sources within a backup set, significantly enhancing storage efficiency.
Known issues
Windows restore:
Restores fail when trying to recover to the “C:/Users” path.
Cloud storage restore:
Backups for DLEs larger than 5TB fail to be restored.
Upgrade/Migration - AWS and Wasabi backup:
Backup sets using AWS or Wasabi as storage created on versions prior to Zmanda 4.2 can’t be reconfigured or backed up.
Disaster recovery:
Incremental backup failure scenario after DR restore for Windows sources
