Zmanda Cloud Storage

This guide will help you use fully-managed Zmanda Cloud Storage in your backup environment.

Zmanda offers a natively integrated cloud storage platform, Zmanda Cloud Storage, to store and manage your backup. With Zmanda Cloud Storage, you get:-

It is mandatory to have Zmanda 5.x license to use Zmanda Cloud Storage as your preferred backup storage.

There are three steps to getting started with Zmanda Cloud Storage:

  1. Download the license from Network.Zmanda.com

  2. Upload the license, and configure the backups using the Zmanda Management Console (ZMC)

  3. Update your payment details in the Zmanda Sentinel

1. Download the License from Network.Zmanda.com

You can download the license for Zmanda Cloud Storage from our licensing portal - Network.Zmanda.com. To download the license successfully, follow the steps provided below.

Step 1: Log in to Network Zmanda using your credentials and go to Downloads from the left navigation bar.

Step 2: Click the download icon next to your Zmanda 5.x license to initiate the download process.

Step 3: When prompted, please provide the Mac address and server name for the machine where Amanda Enterprise is installed. Enter the details and click Next.

Step 4: A passkey will be displayed on your screen. Copy this passkey, as it will be required while uploading the license to the Zmanda Management Console (ZMC).

Step 5: Click the Click to Begin Download button to download the license.

In case the copied passkey gets misplaced, you can click on the download icon and retrieve the passkey without having to download the license once more.

You can install the Zmanda backup server and configure Zmanda Management Console by downloading the required binaries from Network.Zmanda.com. Once this is done, you can add backup servers to ZMC and install the backup agent in your environment.

ZMC can be accessed on port 8008.

2. Upload the License and Configure Backups Using ZMC

The license downloaded from Network.Zmanda.com has to be uploaded to the Zmanda Management Console to start the backup configuration. To upload the license and configure the backups, please follow the steps below.

Step 1: Log in to the Zmanda Management Console using your credentials.

Step 2: Expand Settings from the left navigation panel and click on Licenses.

Step 3: Click the Upload File button.

Step 4: You can drag and drop the downloaded license file or click the Choose file to upload button to browse and select the file.

Step 5: Paste the passkey in the text box shown below.

Step 6: Click the Upload button to upload the license to ZMC.

Once the license is updated, you can create a backup set to start back up runs in your environment.

3. Update your Payment Details on Zmanda Sentinel

You can add your payment details on Sentinel for seamless backups.

Step 1: Open Zmanda Sentinel in your browser.

Step 2: Enter your email address used in Network.Zmanda.com and click the Continue button.

Step 3: You will be redirected to the sign-up page, where all the fields will be automatically filled in. Read the terms and conditions, and if you agree to them, tick the checkbox next to ‘I agree to the Terms & Conditions’.

Step 4: Click the Create Account button.

Step 5: Set up a password for your Zmanda Sentinel account using the link in your inbox.

Set the password and log in again to Zmanda Sentinel.

After successfully logging in, you will be able to see the Dashboard section.

Step 6: To add billing details, expand the Billing section from the left navigation panel and click the Billing Details option.

Step 7: Click the Add button next to the Payment Methods option to add your card details.

Step 8: To make the card your primary payment method, tick the checkbox next to 'Make this my primary payment method'.

Step 9: Once all the card details are added, click the Add button to save it.

The chosen payment method will be charged based on your billing cycle.

Dashboard on Zmanda Sentinel

You can check your storage consumption and account details on Zmanda Sentinel.

Click the Dashboard section from the left navigation panel to get all the details. You can check your current storage consumption, billing cycle, billing estimate, number of licenses, allocated storage, free storage, billable storage, and next invoice date in the Dashboard section.
